The other day, I went to "Yakitori DINING Gallo" in Tonomachi, Nagaoka City.
When you think of yakitori, you might picture a sophisticated, grown-up atmosphere with swaying red lanterns,
This shop has a very stylish atmosphere that makes it easy for women to go in together or for young people to enter.
The calm interior, where the warmth of wood and chic black stand out, is soothed by the relaxing jazz music playing in the background.
This is the first thing that catches your eye when you're shown to your seat.
The menu is printed on the placemat! A wide variety of yakitori dishes are listed.
You can tackle them one by one, or use them as a reference when you're unsure.
This kind of table setting is quite unusual, isn't it?
I thought it was interesting and made for a good conversation starter.
So, let's start with the "Daily Special Assortment of 5 Skewers."
This dish offers a wide variety of choices, with four options to select from: regular sauce, salt, basil sauce, and plum sauce.
We chose salt to bring out the natural flavors of the ingredients and basil for its refreshing taste that makes you want to keep eating!
The classic sauce was great, but the tangy plum sauce was also tempting... I'll try that next time.
If you're unsure what to choose, please feel free to ask our staff for their recommendations!
The sake paired with it is the "Rokudan-jikomi," a limited-edition spring brew!
And guess what? Right now, they'll even make it into "Sakura Sake" (cherry blossom sake) with cherry blossom petals floating in it, so you can enjoy the feeling of spring!
The gently swaying petals floating in the air are so soothing to watch.
You're guaranteed to have a relaxing time.
"Rokudan-jikomi" is characterized by its light, sweet flavor. It pairs exceptionally well with Japanese cuisine, especially meat dishes and stews.
It's best enjoyed slightly chilled!
The "green tea soba salad" is a healthy yet substantial dish.
You can also choose from two types of dressing.
The "Chicken Meatball Gratin" has a rich flavor with plenty of white sauce coating the meatballs.
Its creamy and smooth texture is sure to become addictive.
(It's piping hot, so be careful not to burn yourself!)
At Gallo, you can currently enjoy "Ginjo Gokujo Yoshinogawa," "Gensen Karakuchi," and "Rokudan Shikomi."
The atmosphere was so comfortable that I ended up drinking quite a bit and staying much longer than planned.
The menu offers a wide variety of options, from light snacks to hearty meals.
